Masih Mungkinkah Makan Bersama Keluarga di Lingkungan Perkotaan?

JAKARTA, BatakIndonesia.com — Tulisan pertama makan bersama di kampung halaman yang sampai sekarang masih menjadi model terbaik dalam menjamu seseorang atau keluarga tamu istimewa kita. Namun seorang kawan bernama Feber Manalu mengatakan bahwa saat ini sudah sulit melaksanakannya di perkotaan. Apa betul itu?
Jika acaranya formal untuk sebuah event tertentu bagi seseorang, nampaknya baik di Bonapasogit maupun di perkotaan, masih saja bisa kita temui. Seperti momen perkawinan, lulus sekolah, lepas dari cobaan (songgot-songgot), dan lainnya.
Akan beda halnya jika yang kita bicarakan makan bersama di dalam keluarga. Mungkin, bisa kita perdalam sedikit apa manfaatnya, sekalipun secara teknis mengalami pergeseran diakibatkan waktu makan bersama yang tidak selalu sama, buru-buru ke sekolah, ke kantor atau faktor lain yang lama-lama sulit untuk makan bersama. Akhirnya, model baru terbentuk, yaitu makan bersama di akhir pekan di restoran atau di rumah. Apa manfaat makan bersama ini?
Menurut penelitian di Universitas Columbia (sebagaimana ditulis Tatik Widayati dalam Kompas.com, 03/07/2012), manfaat makan bersama, antara lain:
Pertama, keluarga mendapatkan nutrisi lebih baik, sehingga menurunkan resiko berbagai penyakit dan obesitas. Anak lebih banyak makan sayuran, sehingga lebih banyak nutiris dan vitamin.
Kedua, performa anak-anak lebih baik di sekolah, penelitian ini menuliskan remaja yang makan bersama keluarga setidaknya lima kali seminggu mendapatkan nilai lebih baik serta mempunyai nilai sikap lebih positif tentang masa depan mereka.
Ketiga, komunikasi yang meningkat memberi kesempatan bagi keluarga berkomunikasi, termasuk membicarakan hal serius, hal menyenangkan, dan saling belajar.
Keempat, makan bersama membantu anak-anak mengembangkan ketrampilan sosial, belajar jadi pendengar yang baik dan sabar menunggu (budaya antri-penulis).
Kelima, kesempatan bagi orangtua mengajarkan sopan santun, tata krama di meja makan, hal mana diperlukan keberhasilan mereka di masa depannya.
Keenam, mengurangi penyalahgunaan zat, resep dan obat. Dalam penelitian itu, dibandingkan keluarga yang tidak makan besama tiga setengah kali lebih rentan terhadap penyalahgunaan resep dan obat lainnya.
Ketujuh, Memperkuat ikatan keluarga, kesempatan bagi anak minta orangtua turut memecahkan masalah anak-anak yang tidak dapat diatasinya di luar lingkungan sehari-hari. Di meja makanlah sarananya.
Kedelapan, Makan bersama lebih hemat, dimasak untuk keluarga sekaligus, katimbang makan sendiri-sendiri di restauran.
Kesembilan, Meningkatkan cira rasa anak-anak. Mereka mengenal makanan baru dan tidak menjadi rewel.
Kesepuluh, Struktur dan rutin. Rutinitas membantu anak-anak menemukan organisasi dan kematangan alam keluarga mereka, merasakan suasana yang normal, dan menikmati saat-saati ini setiap hari.
Selain kesepuluh manfaat di atas, sebagai hasil penelitian di Perguruan Tinggi, secara tradisional dengan makan bersama akan dijadikan kesempatan untuk membina kebersamaan keluarga dengan berdoa bersama sesuai agama masing-masing. Ini penting sebagai menu utama bagi keluarga, jika ini dibiasakan maka Meja Makan sebagai terminal awal hari itu dan terminal akhir malam hari.
Pasti akan dikenang jika anak anak sudah besar atau merantau ke negeri orang. Kelak suatu saat, dia menjadi kepala keluarga, akan membiasakan untuk makan bersama dengan keluarga. Anak-anak, orangtua, Nenek/Eyang dan keluarga lainnya akan merasakan sensasi luar biasa jika melakukan “makan bersama” di rumah atau di restauran.
