Kelompok Cipayung, mungkin hanya dikenal sebagian mahasiswa di era milenial ini. Namun sejarah Indonesia modern tidak bisa dilepaskan dari Kelompok Cipayung: Gerakan Mahasiswa Kristen Indonesia (GMKI), Gerakan Mahasiswa Nasional Indonesia (GMNI), Himpunan Mahasiswa Islam (HMI), Persatuan Mahasiswa Khatolik Republik Republik Indonesia (PMKRI) dan Pergerakan Mahasiswa Islam Indonesia (PMII).  Bahkan dalam arti luas, Kelompok Cipayung merupakan pelanjut dari Soempah Pemoeda 1928. Berdiri pada 22 Januari 1972, dimotori Bang Akbar Tanjung (HMI), Binsar Sianipar (GMKI), Bang Christ Key Siner (PMKRI) dan Soerjadi (GMNI). Bang Akbar satunya yg masih hidup.
Pada hari ini, Selasa 21 Mei, setelah KPU selesai melakukan dan mengumumkan rekapitulasi penghitungan suara secara final, para Seniornya berkumpul dan merumuskan komitmen bersama menyangkut keadaan bangsa. Dari KAHMI dgn Kordinator Prof. DR. Hamdan Zoelva (mantan Ketua MK), PA GMNI, Mas DR Ahmad Basarah (Wakil Ketua MPR RI), IKA PMII, Mas Muqowam ( DPD RI), Forkoma PMKRI, Bung Hermawi Taslim dan PNPS GMKI, Ir. Nelson Simanjuntak.
Dengan mengambil tempat di Kantor PA GMNI, organisasi para senior Kelompok Cipayung menyatakan bahwa Indonesia telah memilih sistem demokrasi. Pemilu menjadi jalan untuk mewujudkan kedaulatan rakyat untuk memilih Presiden  dan para wakilnya di DPR dan DPD.
Biasanya, para Senior tidak akan “turun gunung” bila persoalan masih dalam batas-batas kelayakan dan kepatutan. Biasanya para junior yg dikedepankan.
Namun situasi saat ini, sungguh membutuhkan sinergi seluruh lapisan dan spektrum masyarakat. Pemilu serentak yg pertama kali diadakan di Indonesia, yg seharusnya disikapi dan dimaknai dengan kesadaran “belajar” bersama justru dimanfaatkan untuk sekadar meraih ambisi kekuasaan. Indonesia bersyukur sujud atas terlaksana Pemilu damai dan demokratis. Tidak satupun insiden yg mengakibatkan kerugian harta apalagi nyawa anak-anak bangsa. Namun tuduhan yg muncul adalah kecurangan terstruktur, sistematis dan masif dari salah satu calon. Dunia yg telah menjadi “kampung besar” manusia, memiliki jaringan pemantau Pemilu di tiap2 negara. Pemilu pada setiap negara pasti dihadiri pemantau dari negara-negara lain. Dan, selalu ada evaluasi. Pernyataaan yg mengecam atau memuji merupakan tujuan pemantau dari tiap2 negara. Pemantau di dalam negeri juga ada dan bahkan sangat garang mengevaluasi. Biasanya kecaman-kecaman akan muncul pada saat pencoblosan sidah selesai. Namun sejak 17 April hingga hari ini, tidak satupun pemantau dari dalam dan luat negeri yg mengecam. Pelaksanaan Pemilu Indonesia 2019, sesungguhnya patut dipuji. Pujian pertama kepada rakyat, yg melaksanakan hak pilihnya dengan damai. Pujian kedua kepada penyelenggara, terutama yg telah berjerih dan berjuang tanpa pamrih.  Cukup banyak yg meninggal dalam pengabdiannya sebagai penyelenggara Pemilu.
Munculnya tuduhan kecurangan dari kubu 02 justru menimbulkan keanehan. Apalagi tuduhan kecurangan itu dilontarkan setelah 02 sendiri setelah menyatakan menang. Gagal menggiring emosi rakyat dengan tuduhan kecurangan yg sama sekali tidak ada buktinya, ancaman “people power” dimunculkan. Kubu 02 pasti sadar bahwa semua tuduhan dan ancaman itu sesungguhnya merupakan penghinaan terhadap kedaulatan rakyat. Suara rakyat yg merupakan mahkota Pemilu secara nyata telah dipermainkan, dibuat bau dan busuk. People power yg dipersiapkan, dalam semua bentuk dan jenisnya di seluruh dunia pasti tidak akan pernah lepas dari anarkisme yg akan menghancurkan infra struktur fisik dan pasti menelan korban yg banyak. Artinya, “isu kecurangan” utk menghancurkan pemilu dan “people power” utk menghancurkan bangsa.
Pertemuan Alumni Cipayung jelas tidak hanya menggemakan seruan dan pernyataan kepada seluruh masyarakat. Pertemuan itu sendiri yg sesunggunya menjadi pesan utama. “Kami bertemu, berdiri bersama untuk memgawal demokrasi dan mempertahankan NKRI dgn segala taruhannya”. Itulah makna tertinggi bila para senior turun tangan. Pemilu telah selesai dan rakyat telah menyatakan pilihannya. Bila ada kesalahan, NKRI menyediakan penyelesaiannya sesuai ketentuan peraturan perudang-undangan. Dan, yg merumuskan memutuskan ketentuan itu adalah koalisi oposisi yg memdominasi DPR, dipimpin Gerindra bersama PKS, PAN, Demokrat dan Golkar (yg belakangan hengkang). Sungguh tidak terbayangkan, mereka yg dominan menentukan peraturan, memilih personalia KPU, mengikuti semua proses, tetapi mereka juga yg menentang dan menghancurkan semuanya. Sungguh, dari kedalaman iman sebagai warga negara Indonesia, yg bersyukur atas berkat Allah bagi bangsa ini, saya berdoa dengan tulus: Tolonglah ya Tuhan, ya Allah kami, ampunilah semuanya. Namun, jika boleh meminta secara khusus jangan ada lagi jenis manusia seperti ini yg jadi calon Presiden di Indonesia dan di seluruh dunia ini. Berkatilah seluruh rakyat dan tanah air Indonesia. Bravo Kelompok Cipayung.
