Komunis, Ateis dan Muslim

Hanya orang-orang yang pikun pengetahuan dan rabun wawasan alias “pekok” saja yang menyamakan komunisme dan ateisme. Sebagai sebuah konsep, filosofi, dan sistem, komunisme itu jauh berbeda dengan ateisme. Tidak seperti ateisme yang “mengurusi” masalah agama dan kepercayaan orang, komunisme lebih pada urusan sosial-politik dan ekonomi.

Ateisme adalah lawan dari teisme. Kaum ateis tidak menganggap ateisme sebagai sebuah agama atau “sistem kepercayaan” (belief system). Mereka biasanya mendefinisikan ateisme sebagai “a lack of belief in gods”, bukan “a disbelief in gods” atau “a denial of gods.” Komunisme jelas lain. Ia adalah sebuah filosofi, ideologi, dan sekaligus gerakan sosial, politik, dan ekonomi yang bertujuan untuk menciptakan “masyarakat komunis,” yaitu masyarakat egaliter tanpa kelas baik dalam tatanan sosial-politik maupun akses sumber-sumber ekonomi.

Bahwa pada perkembangannya kelak, ada orang-orang ateis yang bergabung di gerbong komunisme memang “iyyess”. Orang ateis mah ada dimana-mana atuh cuk, bukan monopoli komunisme aja. Kaum ateis ini ada yang menjadi pendukung sosialisme, kapitalisme, nasionalisme, dan isme-isme yang lain. Kaum ateis, baik yang ateis konservatif maupun ateis libertarian, juga banyak yang anti ideologi komunis. Untuk menambah wawasan tentang hal ini, silakan baca buku-buku yang ditulis oleh Gary Marks, Seymour Lipset, Paul Buhle, atau Jeff Woods.

Bahwa ada komunis yang ateis bukan berarti komunis itu ateis, kan? Bahwa ada para simpatisan komunisme yang terlibat kekerasan dan kejahatan memang iyyess tetapi jangan “menyalahken atau mengkambinghitamken daripada komunisme”-nya. Soal kekerasan dan kejahatan mah dilakukan oleh pendukung ideologi apa saja di dunia ini: kapitalisme, liberalisme, sekularisme, Islamisme, sosialisme, nasionalisme, pan-Arabisme, pan-Islamisme, dlsb.

Pada awal perkembangan ideologi “komunisme modern” di Eropa (saya sebut “komunisme modern” karena “ajaran” komunisme yang bertumpu pada doktrin egalitarianisme dan anti-hierarkisme sebetulnya memang sudah dipraktekkan sejak zaman klasik oleh masyarakat “pre-modern”, misalnya kelomok “foraging society”), sejumlah tokoh sekularis dan ateis memang ikut berkontribusi dan kebetulan menjadi pioneer komunisme.

Tetapi mereka sebetulnya bukan anti-teisme atau anti-agama melainkan anti terhadap perilaku sejumlah tokoh atau elit agama dan pemimpin politik di Eropa kala itu yang menjadikan agama semata-mata sebagai “topeng monyet” untuk mengelabui, membodohi, menipu, dan menindas masyarakat. Agama yang hanya dijadikan sebagai instrumen pembodohan, ketidakadilan, dan penindasan inilah yang menjadi target kritisisme mereka.

Dalam konteks inilah, Karl Marx bilang, “Agama adalah candu” karena agama, bagi Marx, bisa membuat pengikutnya menjadi “teler” alias “mabok” sehingga tidak bisa membedakan mana keadilan dan ketidakadilan, mana kebenaran hakiki dan mana kesalahan permanen, mana dosa dan mana pahala, dlsb.

Sudah tahu kalau korupsi adalah merusak moral tapi malah dihalalkan, sudah tahu kalau kekerasan adalah kejahatan atau tindakan kriminal tetapi malah diberi “justifikasi teologis”, sudah paham kalau pengrusakan dan terorisme itu haram tapi malah “dilegalkan”, sudah paham kalau intoleransi itu tindakan buruk tapi malah dibiarkan, sudah paham kalau banjir dan malapetaka alam lain itu produk dari keteledoran manusia tetapi malah berdoa minta Tuhan menyelesaikan banjir, dlsb.

Karena memang tidak ada hubungannya antara komunisme dan ateisme itulah maka kenapa banyak para pengikut agama dulu, termasuk Muslim, ikut menjadi pendukung komunisme. Di kawasan Arab dan Timur Tengah dulu, para pentolan Partai Komunis di Palestina, Mesir, Irak, Libanon, Iran, Yordania, Maroko, Aljazair, dlsb adalah para tokoh agama, baik Muslim, Kristen, maupun Yahudi. Di kawasan Asia Tengah, Balkans atau negara-negara bekas Uni Soviet juga banyak tokoh-tokoh Muslim yang bergabung ke Partai Komunis guna melawan rezim Nazi Hitler atau imperialisme Barat.

Di kawasan Timur Tengah, para tokoh Muslim yang terlibat di Partai Komunis / Sosialis tersebut karena semata-mata tertarik dengan ideologi & gerakan komunisme untuk melawan imperialisme maupun dominasi rezim politik-ekonomi lokal. Misalnya, di Palestina & Israel, kelompok Muslim komunis bergabung dengan kaum Islamis untuk melawan rezim politik Israel.

Di Yaman juga banyak para tokoh komunis Muslim termasuk habib seperti Haidar Abu Bakar al-Attas, Muhammad Ghalib Ahmad, Ali Nasser Muhammad, Ali Salim al-Beidh, Ali Saleh Obad, Yasin Said Nu’man, Abdulrahman al-Saqqaf, dlsb. Partai Komunis Yaman didirikan oleh Abdallah bin Abd al-Razzaq Ba Dhib.

Di Mesir, tokoh Muslim yang memprakarsai pendirian Partai Komunis adalah Mahmud Husni al-Urabi. Ia bahkan belajar komunisme langsung ke Moscow. Di Uni Soviet dulu salah satu pentolan tokoh komunis Muslim adalah Sultan Galiev. Di Afganistan, para tokoh Muslim juga banyak yang bergabung di gerakan komunis seperti Akram Yari, Babrak Karmal, Nur Muhammad Taraki, dlsb. Di Indonesia, tokoh komunis Muslim yang melegenda adalah Haji Misbach.
